Sarasota Herald-Tribune (FL) - August 18, 2008 Deceased Name: Canner , Edwin M. Aug. 3, 2008 Edwin M. Canner, 84, of Marblehead, Mass., and Venice died Aug. 3, 2008. Funeral services were Aug. 5 in Salem, Mass. Ed passed away peacefully at his home overlooking his beloved Marblehead Harbor. He was surrounded by his cherished family at the time of his passing. Ed was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Suzanne Hennessy; his sons, Glenn and Gary Canner; his daughters-in-law, Cindy Jubinsky and Lu Off; his grandchildren, David and Blair Canner and Allen Kekoa Canner; his stepchildren, Lianne and Kip Kobussen and Peter and Leslie Penni; and his step-grandchildren, Lindsey and Jack Kobussen; as well as many dear friends, nieces and nephews, including Sara Fagan of California, Neil and Barry Canner of Hyde Park, and Ben Wise of New Hampshire. Ed's heart was filled with pride where his wife, his sons, and grandchildren were concerned and loved to share in their many successes. Ed had a distinguished military service as a second lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps 406 Bomb Squadron Carpetbaggers, where he was a decorated B-24 pilot. He received a Purple Heart for his service during World War II following injuries sustained during his service to our country. Ed graduated from the University of Michigan, a Canner tradition, and became a successful aeronautical engineer. He was president and CEO of Canner Associates Inc., a manufacturer's representative company, for more than 30 years. Ed was passionate about sailing and spent many happy hours on his boat, Protocol, in Marblehead Harbor, a place he dearly loved. He also greatly enjoyed flying and would be happy to hold a spirited conversation with anyone about planes, traveling, problem solving, world events and sailing. Ed Canner enjoyed his wonderful life and the many adventures that came his way. We all hope to live life as well and as fully as Ed did. Sign the guestbook at Sarasota Herald-Tribune
